Julie Emerick
April 10 1923 - January 28, 2011

Julie A. Emerick, 87, of Lauderhill, Fl, passed away on January 28, 2011, at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fl.
Julie was born on April 10, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan and was blessed with seven brothers and sisters, and loving parents John and Martha Szluk.  Julie married Lee Emerick, on September 23, 1940 and had three sons Dennis John, Kenneth Edward, and James Stephen.  Julie was a homemaker until her sons were raised and then turned her interests to care giving as a Red Cross Volunteer as well as starting a successful career with General Motors Corporation in Industry and Government Relations.
Julie retired from General Motors and moved to Lauderhill, Florida in 1989 after her loving husband of 50 years, Lee passed away.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha, six brothers and sisters, John Szluk, Michael Szluk, Peter Szluk, Frank Szluk, Martha Pergin, Mary McNamara, and her loving niece Christine Rock.
She is survived by her brother Ed Szluk and wife Connie of Plymouth, Michigan, sons Dennis Emerick  of Nassau, Bahamas, Jim Emerick of Lauderhill, Fl, Ken Emerick and wife Ruthann of Plymouth, Michigan, a granddaughter, Marcie (Emerick) Wheeler of Canton, Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Julie’s life was focused on family and friends and she touched the lives of thousands through her various volunteer work efforts, her participation as an usher at her church, St. Helens Roman Catholic Church of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida and as a care giver for family and friends in need.  Throughout the years, she was the primary care giver for her godmother, her mother Martha, her husband Lee, her sister Mary, and a comfort giver to her beloved niece Christine and many friends wherever and whenever they needed care.
Julie was an outstanding, loving, and compassionate woman who will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege and honor of knowing her.  Forever, her love will be in our hearts and the hearts of all the others she touched.    As a devout catholic with strong  faith she knew her Lord was finally bringing her home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either St. Helens Catholic Church or Holy Cross Hospital Oncology Department.
